Metering
Screw Feeders
Twin Screw Feeders
Principle and Operation
Metering Screw Feeder also known as Volumetric Feeder is designed
to continuously meter all materials from flushing powders to
fibrous particulate products at a constant volume to high accuracies.
The basic feeder consists of a Rospen designed, unique tapered
conditioning chamber, complete with a slow rotation agitator
and variable control functions, which provides timed on /off
settings, constant or intermittent operation, to suit the nature
of the products being handled.
Product is directed into a variable speed metering screw, which
runs completely and evenly filled and is linked to an electronic
feed back drive ensuring accurate speed holding under all load
conditions. Resulting in material being metered out at a constant
volume of between ±1% to ±2%. For output capacities
see choice of feeder section below or follow
link to the feeder sizing tables.
Choice of Feeder
The
selection of the correct type of feeder from our extensive range
is determined primarily by the type and specification of the
material to be handled. Both single and twin, screw feeders
are equally as efficient, with the single screw mechanically
simpler and therefore, more economical and is the prime choice
where practical. Both units share the following features and
benefits
- Large inlet eliminates material bridging.
- Tapered Conditioning Chamber de-aerates fluidising powders or
livens cohesive materials ensuring screw runs completely and evenly
filled.
- Suitable for use with very fine to coarse, or fibrous, particulate
products.
- Easily removable front cover provides a safe and quick access
for cleaning.
- Instant release of feed screw without shaft seal disturbance.
- Ideally suited to industries that require rapid clean down and
product changes.
Twin Screw Feeders
Designed
to resolve three main problems associated with the feeding of powders
and particulates:
- Sticky materials, which can block, plug or core in single screw
machines.
- Flushing powders that tend to fluidise.
- Cohesive, sticky and greasy powders that tend to fall in congealed
lump form.
The separately driven agitator ensures densified material is directed
evenly into both screws, which run completely and evenly filled:
They are designed to intermesh and can be characterised to have
specific features.
