Enclosed Weigh Screw
Principle and Operation
The Rospen Industries Enclosed Weigh Screw is designed for
the continuous weighing of dusty, aggressive, or toxic powders,
to accuracies of ± 0.5% at rates up to 60 tonnes tonnes/hr.
The machine consists of a Metering
Screw Feeder,
which pre conditions and meters the product by volume into a
short weigh screw, turning at a variable speed through which
the product is conveyed. With the Weigh Screw located on a weigh
platform the PLC provides a fail safe, positive indication of
material flow-rate change, variation in density or moisture
level or a change in material characteristics.
 The
output signal from the weight controller can also be used to:

Initiate an error alarm.

Indicate flow rate.

Totalise flow.

Control the output of other metering devices
in ratio. This method allows the output of several metering
feeders or liquid pumps to be ‘rationed’ and held
in close tolerance.
